And lo–I have a surprise for you! Questions on Peter Lunenfeld’s Snap to Grid. Thought I forgot about that book, didn’t you? I’m mainly talking to Intermediate Digital Imaging students here, you know.
1. Using specific examples from the Lunenfeld text (chapt. 5), please describe and comment on the radical transformation photography is undergoing as a result of electronic imaging technology.
2. In chapter 6, Lunenfeld applies “eruetic methodology” to trace his own fascinations with the conceptual landscape of the contemporary internet. Do you agree or disagree with the assertion that the World Wide Web is the Internet’s “Killer App”? Why/why not? Please also discuss the relevance of sites such as jodi.org to the broader conversation about net.art.
3. Can you talk more about the notion of “demo or die”? Do you have specific anecdotal eqperience to draw upon here? Thoughts for what the future holds for the “crit” forum in art school?
I’ll have more as we read more and as you respond.
